In Loving Memory of
Ryan Finch
A dear teenager, Ryan Finch, drowned Tuesday, August 17, 2010, during a flash flood in
Weber City, Virginia.
We were blessed to see
him come to Christ at a Young Life summer camp last year.
Pray as counseling and consoling continues for his friends and family.
Praise the Lord, he is with the King of Kings and is no longer suffering the effects of this
life but has entered into the greatest reality--to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!!!
Attached are some pictures of Ryan over the past two years at the Young Life summer
camp
and Club Night with Mike Edwards and the team at the Bristol Dragway.

After months of getting to know Ryan Finch during a lunch period at Gate City High School,
I was able to use a great tool to launch Ryan’s involvement with Young Life.
April 2008 Mike
Edwards
Motorsports hosted our Scott County Virginia Young Life group at the Bristol’s Thunder Valley
for a Meet Mike Edwards presentation. Mike spent intentional time one-on-one with Ryan. Ryan even
won a full Young Life camp scholarship at this event! Ryan attended camp and upon coming back amazed
his guardian and grandmother with a dramatic change in his life. Through the Mike Edwards Motorsports in
conjunction with the local Young Life mission, Ryan Finch came to be found with his life hidden in Jesus Christ.
On August 17, 2010, Ryan Finch drowned during a flash flood but is now with the One who exclaims “‘Do not fear,
for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. I will be with you when you pass through
the waters,
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.’ ” Isaiah 43:1-2 I am personally
thankful for the efforts of the Mike Edwards Motorsports team. They are good at drag racing, but even better at
serving to
build the Kingdom of Heaven one teenager at a time.
